In the high mountains of Transylvania, the grayling begin to feed with a frenzied intensity. Emerging from a long winter, they are eager to replenish their energy reserves. Here is a wet fly pattern—an emerger or whatever you prefer to call it—that works exceptionally well in these conditions.
Materials:
- Hook: Daiichi 1310 #14 ( pinch the barb before fishing )
- Thread: Sumo 30DEN A1 color ( to keep an invisible underbody)
- Body: Tinsel in pearl -A1 color -from TroutLine
- Thorax: a pinch of pure squirrel dubbing – black color
- Hackle: black from domestic rooster or genetic hen ( is not so important)
Tying tips:
Use wax to provide grip when you make the cover body using the pearl tinsel. Use the black dubbing to provide a support for hackle.
