Dyret Sedge – by Thomas Roos

This is a superb Sedge Dry Fly tied by Thomas Roos. It is well known in Scandinavia under the Dyret name.

This model is a fantastic version of sedge flies tied in pure Swedish style. The fly is tied in this unique way to float well on super fast flowing rivers from Nord Scandinavia.

*Hooks need to be strong – Ahrex is a good option or Hanak as well

*Hackle should be from high quality roosters

*Poly – which is used for body ( tail and heads ) is useful and help flies to float and to provide a good water print

*Dubbing – Roos used Troutline Ecstasy Dubbing ( it seems that suits very well for these flies ) for making bodies

Good looking fly! Could you please give a short tying instruction, if i wind the hackle and cut it afterwards on the lower part, the dubbing would be cut too….

Hi Jan, Yes, you have to trim the barbs under the hook shank. Then you have to brush the dubbing and that is it

simple search on Google. It is a synthetic type of fiber which is not penetrated by water. So will not soak it.

Have you fished with Dyrets out of Scandinavia? Is it so great pattern for others destinations?
