Here’s a video demonstrating how easy it is to tie a size 18-22 parachute emerger. The quality of the materials is crucial: using ultra-thin thread and high-quality CDC feathers makes a big difference. The Sumo 10DEN thread is perfect for this task, and when combined with Perdigon Body thread and Perdigon UV tinsel, you can create tiny flies quickly and effortlessly! Personally, I dislike the ones tied with rooster hackles. They often become unbalanced and land sideways on the water. In contrast, those tied with CDC are far superior—they’re more durable and much easier to see on the water .
Materials used:
- Hook – any you like , I prefer Hanak and Daiichi . In video I used a Hanak 390 BL
- Sumo Power Thread -10DEN – the thinnest thread you can find in fly tying world
- High Quality CDC feathers– 2 colors combined
- Body Thread: Perdigon Body Thread because it suits very well
- Tinsel very thin with UV effect: Perdigon UV Flat Tinsel Small
