This type of fly, especially this one in yellow is never missing from the models I use daily. I almost always start with this fly on waters I don’t know.
It is super simple, it provides lot of movement and catch trout and grayling all the time. I like this fly because it combines the efficiency of nymphs with that of spiders. In addition, you can play it super easy and make the trout come out wherever they are hidden.
You can use it between between rocks and structures, you can induce the attack by playing the fly all the time or you can fish it “down-and-across swing” like wet flies.
Materials:
- Hook : -Hanak 480 or similar in size #12-16
- Thread: -Perdigon Flat Body Thread -A8 color
- Ribbing: wire used is silver from Hends
- Hot Spot: -green peacock tinsel (Hends or any other brand)
- Hackle: -one turn of Partridge grey or brown hackle.
A tying trick: the hackle should be sparse, the barbules on one side should be plucked. Otherwise it will not work well in the water and the hackle will be stiff.
Test if you don’t believe me 🙂
Cheers and happy tying!

I do belive! 🙂 Simple and a real producer. I like the body with thread and uv-rib, but the effect is the same. Great fly!
