The Irish Gold & Partridge wet fly is tied in a minimalist style and is a superb pattern for river fishing. I remembered this model while I was in the workshop mixing and painting some dubbings, and I was thrilled to recreate this color.
I received it many years ago from an Irish friend who generously sent me a bag of it. Now that the color has finally come out for me, I eagerly tied this fly to see how it turns out.
Sometimes I make it palmered with English partridge and French partridge. Tied in this way, this fly is deadly when used on sunny days in deep, dark lakes. Finally, I can add this model, which I particularly love, to my collection of wet flies.

Hi Robert,
Thank you for your comment! I’m glad you like it :). I used a size #12 Demmon N500 hook, perdigon pearl tinsel, and partridge. For the body, I used dubbing in gold Irish color. I dyed some mixed fur two weeks ago and was thrilled to obtain the same color I got a few years ago from an Irish friend. In the past, with this color, I tied this fly for over 10 years and caught many nice fish until the dubbing ran out. I’ll be putting this dubbing in the shop next week! 🙂
thank you 🙂
