Not the easiest way to make a nymph but winter is long and we have plenty of time to make a few. Making a semi realistic swimming nymph is super fun and not the last, the fly catch lots of fish.
What is extraordinary about this fly is the material for the body, which in addition to being resistant also makes the tying process easier.
Materials:
- Hook: Daiichi #14 D1190 BL
- Thread: Yellow thread from Veevus or UTC 70DEN
- Weight: Tungsten wire
- Tail: pheasant barbs from rooster tail
- Body: Troutline Nymph Skin Regular for medium and large flies and for small flies use Troutline Nymph Skin Small
- Gills: Veevus Stomach in light color
- Thorax: yellow Kapok
- Back: Mallard Hen Feathers – I like it because compared with classic pheasant, the barbs from mallard are light colored and they are much delicate.
