To make this model, you’ll need a bit more time compared to a simple fly. If you want to create small and efficient flies that float well and maintain their balance, then this type of fly is an excellent choice. Tying a fly with a standard rooster hackle on hooks smaller than size 16 can be challenging. While it’s not impossible, it often results in a bulky fly. However, the fly I’m presenting here, made with CDC feathers, is the perfect solution for such situations. In my experience, this model is the most effective emerger I have ever tried, no matter where I fish.
