Here is a super buggy sedge pattern that stands out from the usual ones. This one breaks away from tradition by skipping the rooster hackle. Instead, I’ve used a CDC wing combined with hare guard fur for the collar, creating a natural, high-floating fly that excels in fast-flowing waters.
This style of tying with hare fur used to make hackle was elaborated and developed by the well-known French fly tier Jean-Paul Dessaigne.
Let’s go back to our fly: no fancy tricks—just a simple, highly effective pattern that delivers results. You can fish this fly as a dry or let it drift and swim like a swimming egg-laying adult—either way.
