Hey everyone! Welcome to the blog! Lately, I’ve been “cleaning” up as the fishing season comes to a close. It’s that time of year when I gather all my scattered equipment—boxes, reels, rods, waders—and put everything in order. With winter approaching, I want to make sure I’m not searching everywhere for my gear when the next season rolls around.
During my clean-up, I came across a box of old flies that I received back in the 2000s. Among them were some nymphs that made quite a splash in competitions during that time. One nymph that stood out to me is the Orange Hot Spot PTN. This little nymph was a big hit and is still a go-to for many anglers today. Its bright orange dubbing and curved hook design mimic a dead or vulnerable insect, making it incredibly effective.
As I reflect on these classic patterns, it’s clear why they remain must-haves in the tackle boxes of serious fly fishermen. They’ve proven their effectiveness time and time again.
So, I decided to make a small film about this nymph. While it wouldn’t be complicated to reproduce after a picture, I thought it would be better to post it on YouTube. My blog is relatively unknown, and YouTube is much easier to reach for more people.
